My name is Olivia Kabell, and I'm the owner and designer behind this site.
I operate out of the Houston, Texas area as a part-time editorial assistant and freelance editor for technical articles and documents. I have experience working with technical articles and documents in a variety of roles, including writer, researcher, and editor. My current focus is in the oil & gas field, but I consider learning a life-long experience and I'm always eager to pick up jargon and knowledge from a new field so I can help subject matter experts produce polished, professional documents.
Previously, I've worked in a variety of roles, including part-time teaching and curriculum development, HTML and web content editing, and logo design and branding design. As of 2023, I've earned a Bachelor of English from Texas A&M University, with a technical writing certificate and art minor, and I intend to graduate with a Master of Technical Communication from Texas Tech University by summer 2023.
After graduation, I'm looking to pursue work full-time and continue my journey in technical communication. While editing and polishing documents in a language capacity is my passion, I'm also looking to take advantage of my HTML knowledge and design background to help create and format technical content for an increasingly digitized world.
If you're ready, take a look around my site and the example work I host here, and have a pleasant visit.
Birdie is more than just a name - it's a legacy that stretches back several generations. From grandmother to mother to daughter, each have left their mark with written and artistic endeavors. From writing, to editing, to design, the name Birdie carries a history of artists and writers three generations strong.
Through my logo and branding design, I have sought to reflect this legacy with elegance and precision.
